Photos #1 and #6 taken by Caroline R.
PHOTOGRAPHER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND COMMUNITY BUILDER
Welcome to my portfolio. Even though this website is mainly focused on my photography, I like to describe myself as a "touche à tout" artist, and I thought I'd tell you a little bit about my other alter egos in this bio.
How it all started
Self-portraits. Teenagehood insecurities seemed to dissappear for a second when I saw myself on the back of the camera. Not long after I realised it had the same effect on my friends. I witnessed the transformative potential of the shots I was taking. It's amazing how a single photograph can challenge the biased self-image we often carry, dismantling the mental constructs we build in our minds.
I found my purpose. Through my photography, I knew I wanted to empower people, help them rediscover their inner strength and beauty, unlearn societal stereotypes, and rekindle their connection to themselves. All that while nurturing their creativity.
Wonderful Wandering
With roots in Belgium and a heart forever chasing wanderlust, I've embraced a nomadic lifestyle. I’ve lived on 4 different continents, and now based in Australia, I continue feeding my curiosity, asking questions with every frame, painting new worlds and capturing moments to make them infinite.
Everytime I go to a new place, distances shrink in my mind. The world makes more sense.
May the experiences I share be the kick some need to step out of their comfort zones, seek things they haven't seen before, and embrace new adventures.
An obsession with learning
Call it ADHD, but I guess it all comes back to the scientist in me. I'm totally obsessed with learning new techniques to make art, I love experimenting. In one of the pictures above, I'm learning how to work with metal to build a structure to make an Art Car for BurningMan (Full coverage of this event here). I started shooting film in 2023 and since then my favourite thing has been experimenting with expired film. Follow my journey along on Instagram.
My love for Music
I want to make photographs that feel like music.
I have always been obsessed with the relationship between sound and image: spending far too long choosing the perfect song for an IG post, shooting live music, imagining album covers, and building visual worlds around the feeling a track leaves behind.
Nothing excites me more than working with an artist and asking: what does your music look like?
As a singer, I know how personal that question is. An artist is not just looking for a beautiful photograph; they are building a universe around what they create. The clothes, the light, the location, the movement, the artwork, they all become part of the same language.
Working with artists is the most exciting form of collaboration: to listen, experiment, and create something neither of us would have arrived at alone. Something that does not simply illustrate the music, but belongs to it.
W O R K S H O P S
Beyond producing my own shoots, I bring my love for teaching, community-building, and art direction into organizing creative workshops. I’ve had the pleasure of producing two collaborative analogue portrait workshops at the Melbourne Camera Club in the past year. We had multiple models, several shooting setups, a full day of photography, snacks, and on-site film development. It was such a fun day with so many positive feedbacks!
Creative Workshops are something I’d love to do much more of in the future, so don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to hear about the next one!
